UT-Dell Medical Center and Austin-Travis County Food Policy Board
Kacey Hanson was born in Austin, Texas and graduate from: Austin ISD’s Science Academy at LBJ High School; Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science; and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health. Prior to joining Dell Medical School, she worked at the Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living as a research coordinator here in Austin. She has also worked at Duke University’s Department of Family Medicine and UNC’s Lineberger Cancer Center. She has more than 15 years of public health experience working with various populations managing invention projects around behavior changes (i.e. nutrition and physical activity). Her research interests are in social determinants of health and health equity. She is an active member of the Austin/Travis County Food Policy Board and was appointed by County Commissioner Travillion.
